Innerbloom

Well would you believe I wrote my first post in over a year and then I saved it to add some pics from home and then I deleted it. So now I have to start all over again. Argh

So here we are 2016.

2015 bought our greatest creation Ashton Zayn Kowald. There were many highs and just as many lows, but life just wouldn't be the same without our 'smiling assain, ginger ninja'.

To end 2014 we installed the concrete bench tops and also added in the splash back.
The concrete bench tops look great, as soon as they went in they looked like they were always there. It's nice to see our vision fits in with the end result.
It took four buff men to get these bench tops in place.

During our down time in 2015 we started planning and designing #phase2 of the 152 renovation. At the moment its backwards and forwards with the building designer but we are hoping to submit for approvals in the next two weeks and are even more hopeful to start digging up with backyard soon. We have tentatively booked in the pool man for May. Bring on Summer 2016/17!

Over the last few weeks we have started removing the old casement windows and inserting new louver windows. It became apparent that when Ashton could crawl, he would be able to get up onto our bed and fall out the window. Although our car has an inbuilt autopilot to the hospital we really don't need any extra trips to the hospital, so we opted for a safer house.

As Aaron has progressed in his chosen career it is starting to become clear I am not needed for half as much as in previous years.

So here we go.

Hey now

Now how am I going to top Azz's latest blog post!

So much has been happening. But I'm always one to write little and let the images do the talking.

While the concrete bench tops are drying Aaron worked on the pantry - yipee! Azz did another awesome job putting it together. He had to grind the concrete floor in the pantry, before we started building the shelving. Aaron built all the little cavities and even made drawers for the pantry. Oh so clever.

Instead of using malamine, we decided to use the black form ply and it came up a treat. We were able to use the pantry as a little butlers pantry, so we have the microwave, toaster etc in there. Gives us a little more bench space and gets rid of the clutter/mess.

I'm not happy with how I have everything positioned in the pantry but I figure it will come in time. Everything will find its home. I'm sure it will be an organic process. Aaron puts something in one place and I move it to another. The story of my life!

Other than that we have put up some artwork I created. I stole the idea from the block, but we love it and it fits in perfectly.

Aaron and I also started polishing the bench top last weekend. This weekend after our BBQ we are going to put a slurry in the holes and then back to polishing it. Apparently it mat take a few goes with the slurry and polishing. But it does look fabulous. I'm so glad we did the second pour. It's going to be worth it.

I promise the bench will be in before Christmas! Then we just need to put up our splash-back up and the inside is DONE! Finally.

Aaron and I are really starting to look at the house and realise how far we have come. From a house with no walls or ceilings to now putting the final touches on the decorating its all coming together and I wouldn't change the experience for anything. We might have missed out on doing things with friends sometimes but we really have given our little home so much love.

Be warned: this blog features lots of Jackson, I feel as though he has been lacking in the last few posts. He is a very cute.

Just chillin

Out for a cruise in the new car! Watching the world go by.
